"A candy whole wheat cracker. These are very flexible. They can be eaten plain or used in recipes as entire crackers or simply crumbs."
Ingredients :
- half cup shortening
- 3/four cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- half of teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup milk

- In a medium bowl, cream together the shortening and brown sugar. Stir in the vanilla. Combine the entire wheat flour, all reason flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt, stir into the creamed combination alternately with the milk. Cover and kick back dough till company.
- Preheat oven to 350 levels F (175 stages C). Grease cookie sheets. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into rectangles. Place half of inch apart onto the prepared cookie sheets.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven, or until crisp. Edges might be golden brown. Remove from baking sheet to chill on cord racks.
